If you missed either the series of gigs played by The xx at the Brixton Academy last month or the Night + Day festival in Brixton, now there’s a chance to catch up. Listen to Jamie xx’s DJ set and watch a short documentary released by the band.
Born-and-bred South Londoners have returned to another place that’s close to their hearts – last month, they’ve brought the selection of events, panel talks, pop-ups from young local entrepreneurs, film screenings at the Whirled Cinema and after parties to Brixton to celebrate their sold-out week at Brixton Academy.
To bring the memories back, The xx released a short documentary about it. Collecting the footage filmed throughout eight days that the band have spent in Brixton, they shared behind-the-scenes of their headline shows.
The 21-minute film features also some of the artists that helped to bring the festival to life, with the likes of Florence Welch, Robyn, Sampha, Savages among their collaborators.
“Night + Day has always been a special project to us, as it’s a way for us to connect with and celebrate all of the amazing cultural activity happening in the places that we love,” the band stated upon the release of the festival outcomes. “Brixton last month was a truly unforgettable experience for all of us, so we’re very pleased to be able to present this film to you all.”
