Darren Aronofsky shares the first poster for his new film, Mother!

Darren Aronofsky, the mastermind behind Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan, will return with a new mind-bending movie with Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Pfeiffer and Javier Bardem. He shared the first poster of Mother! – and it looks a lot like Frida Kahlo’s work…

After Noah, which didn’t really serve as a contribution to Aronofsky’s legacy that includes a chilling drug addict story Requiem for a Dream and psychological tale of ambition Black Swan, Aronofsky took some time out to work on his newest film. However, taking advantage of Mother’s Day in the US, he shared a haunting poster of Mother! It’s been created by James Jean and is inspired by Jessica Harrison, an artist who makes porcelain figurines.

A painting shows Jennifer Lawrence holding the heart that she’s taken out of her chest resembling Frida Kahlo on her autoportraits – so we can only guess what the movie will bring, and how quickly can this artwork become a classic.

What’s the film about? There’s very little information about it at the moment, and while we wait for the trailer, we can only try to analyse its one-sentence-long description. Jennifer Lawrence (Joy, Silver Linings Playbook) will be joined by Javier Bardem (Vicky Cristina Barcelona star who stars in the upcoming release of Pirates of the Carribean: Salazar’s Revenge) to tell a story of the couple whose bond is put to test as a mysterious spirit haunts their home. The line-up includes also Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Ed Harris and Kristen Wiig.

The film is set to be released in the UK on the 10th of November 2017.
