Marilyn once said, and we all know that “diamonds are woman’s best friend”. But not all of us imagine ourselves cutting a hefty piece of the budget for the Cinderella’s crystal shoes, or encrusting ourselves with the overload of stones. And here’s where the cool, toned-down sparkle of insanely trendy metallic comes in – dressed down a bit to suit almost all semi-formal occasions.
The metallic materials have been appearing and disappearing for a few seasons now, constantly revived by the biggest names in the fashion industry. But a touch of metallic can turn almost any outfit into gold – and with a comeback in this autumn/winter season, it can help you make a statement, if you decide to go metallic head to toe, or if you just pick a shimmery accessory.
Have a look at three of our combinations – just one piece of clothing can make a massive difference!
If you want to feel comfortable, a pair of wide trousers will provide the glamorous look of your favourite jumpsuit – except with many more possibilities. Dress them up with a pair of your favourite black heels and cover up with a leather jacket.
It’s not just gold and silver for the metallic textures: it’s easy to find skirts and dresses that sparkle in many different colours. We took a blue plaited high-waisted skirt and paired it with a cropped jumper. A nice monochrome bag and a pair of boots will let the boldest piece shine – but without making it too dressy!
Still in for that dress? If you don’t fancy covering yourself in glitter, pick one with metallic details. Accessorise it boldly with a gold-and-black statement necklace, match it with a golden bag, and wear gladiator-style shoes to make it ultimately chill-glam.
