Beginning this article with an “oppa gingham style!” pun probably isn’t the most overused way of doing it… oops, it’s too late. But instead of wondering what the above is (and bringing Gangnam Style back… but maybe don’t), let’s discuss gingham that is of currently taking spring/summer. Read on to find out how to wear gingham like a fashion blogger!
Gingham is a type of fabric with its very particular, plaid, black and white pattern. Popular in the Fifties, it’s made a grand return to the catwalks, high street shops, and fashion blogs as one of the hottest trend of the season. Saying “plaid” might be out of fashion, but a very particular version of it is back in vogue – and here are the outfits from a handful of fashion blogs to prove it.
Freckles on Fillmore
Jen from Freckles on Fillmore connected two hottest trends of the season: off-the-shoulder and gingham. And that’s an original way of doing it, actually – both used to be attributed to Brigitte Bardot, who was a massive fan of the neckline, and wore a gingham dress to her own wedding. In her outfit, Jen pairs a trendy gingham blouse with a comfy pair of dark jeans, gold heels, and a leather clutch. Comfortable and stylish? Check.
Hallie came up with a look that brings country style to your mind. On her blog Hallie Daily, she pairs a bell sleeve gingham blouse, a beige maxi skirt and a little straw bag, nailing the spring/summer trends. That’s a delicate and girly look to put spring in your step!
Sara from Collage Vintage prepares for every aspect of the spring weather, looking hotter than hell by the way. We love the combination of a graphic T-shirt with a gingham skirt and a longer khaki coat, balanced out by heavier looking shoes.
That’s a Leaf
Now, to the outerwear. Elif from That’s a Leaf paired gingham with camel, too. She threw the gingham jacket over the plain white T-shirt combined with trousers in earthy tones and accessorised it with a black bucket bag. A bit of layering will always keep you comfy and warm.
I Want You To Know
Kristabel who is the author of I Want You To Know put together an asymmetric gingham skirt with a print tee and a pastel biker jacket. She topped it up with a metallic bag and black ankle boots. That’s our top choice for the undecided London weather!
