Shishi Yamazaki animates Cara Delevingne for the new Chanel campaign

She might have been the paper girl before, but this time Cara Delevingne becomes a girl in watercolour in Chanel’s newest promotional clip.

The animation, created by Japanese illustrator and director Shishi Yamazaki, shows animated Cara on a skateboard in a trippy, colourful world filled with delicate, watercolour-like lines. It’s a promotional material for the new Gabrielle bag inspired by Gabrielle Coco Chanel – the founder of the brand.

Delevingne is the second celebrity who stars in the series promoting the brand’s newest piece: only last week, Chanel released a video starring Kristen Stewart as a designer herself, dancing around an empty warehouse/art studio setting. It was directed by Daniel Askill, who has worked with Sia on a handful of her videos, including Chandelier.

The upcoming clips are to feature Pharrell Williams, who the model teamed up with for a Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel short back in 2014, and Caroline de Maigret, a French model and musician.
